Core EM & Mentorship program

Galway believes strongly in consultant-led, protected teaching time and hosts a Departmental Core Emergency Medicine training programme that mirrors the RCEM core curriculum.

Each doctor also receives a named Consultant (and Registrar if SHO/Intern) as their Mentor, who will meet with you to better understand your career objectives and how best to achieve them.

Annually, we recognise the work of our NCHDs with the Professor James Binchy Emergency Physician of the Year Award. Previous recipients include:
